The Black Cloud - Victoria Park, Bristol July - December 2009

**AS SEEN ON BUSTLER, BDONLINE, DEZEEN AND COOLBOOM**

Designed in collaboration with Heather and Ivan Morison, The Black Cloud is a timber pavilion that acts as a public shelter with an open programme.

The structure is a deconstructed geodesic dome, made up of 152 unique timber triangles, creating a form that appears to lurch across the park.Drawing Inspriration from the Shabono shelters of the Yanamono tribe in Venezuela and the structures of the Drop CIty community in Colorado during the mid sixties, the structure aims to question the means of sheltering from an endless sun scorching the earth.

The timber was harvested from the artists' private arboretum in Wales, and hand built by a team of dedicated volunteers on Spike Island in Bristol. It was then brought to site and constructed in one day as a public raising event in the stye of an amish barn raising, encouraging local involvement in every aspect from construction to catering and music.

Many thanks to Situations, UWE, The Arts Council and Spike Island
